The uBR7114 contains one downstream port (traffic from the headend to the subscriber) and four upstream ports, (traffic from the headend to the subscriber). This model is CableLabs-qualified to DOCSIS 1.0 specifications and promotes plug-and-play, offering a number of hardware and software choices that support quick and easy deployment of a cable headend. The uBR7114 is one of the models of the uBR7100 Universal Broadband Router series, a series that provides a complete, easy-to-use product allowing cable service providers and multi-unit (MxU) operators the ability to offer high-speed Internet access and Voice-over-IP services. The product delivers a cost-effective solution that combines a router, supporting high-performance backbone technologies, with a Cable Modem Termination System (CMTS), containing a line card with an integrated upconverter that minimizes capital expenses. The Cisco uBR7100 Series is designed primarily for the market. It delivers robust services quickly and cost-effectively. The MxU market includes Multi-Dwelling Units (MDUs). It supports an advanced cable IP infrastructure and delivers secure, high-speed Internet access, along with traditional cable TV service. The Multi-Tenant Units (MTUs) refers to commercial properties that house a number of small or medium-sized offices or shopping mall consortiums. The cable IP infrastructure supports high-speed cable broadband and LAN services. Cisco’s uBR7100 router is designed for (online) universities and colleges, research institutions, hotels, convention centers, and all VPNs that require fast Internet access required for email, video, and voice communications. Cisco’s uBR7100 router has a full Layer 3 router and CMTS with an integrated upconverter, and embedded Network Interface. The standards-based are DOCSIS and EuroDOCSIS. The router is reliable and ensures the attached system to stay online. It comes with two downstream and four upstream ports.
